The inherited tradition. What we are handed before we choose.
The Lovers
The first real choice — and the loss of every path not taken.
The Chariot
Crossing the water without being pulled under. Will held together by force.
Strength
The softer power. The lion gentled, not defeated.
The Hermit
The lamp carried alone. Withdrawal that is not retreat.
Wheel of Fortune
The turn no one controls. The pattern larger than the self.
Justice
The honest accounting. Cause met by consequence.
The Hanged Man
The suspension. Seeing by surrender, the world reversed on purpose.
Death
The ending that clears the ground. Not the person, the form.
Temperance
Standing in the water without drowning. The patient mixing of opposites.
The Devil
The chain you forgot you could remove. Bondage that calls itself appetite.
The Tower
The structure that was already failing, struck down to relief.
The Star
Hope returning on its own terms, after the worst has passed.
The Moon
Endurance through the most threatening contents. The depths stirred.
The Sun
Clarity made certain. What the Moon's half-light finally resolves.
Judgement
The call to rise. The past gathered and answered.
The World
No more separation. Water no longer drawn because it has become the figure.
The World is not the end of the road. It is the Fool, ready to step off the edge again — only this time, knowing the whole of it.
